August Newsletter

.The front nine has been in great condition all summer long and now, the BACK NINE.

Welcome to Thousand Acres Golf Club

Dear Members, What a great summer we have had so far. We are beyond happy with how this year has taken shape, and sure hope our members feel the same way. The front nine has been in great condition all summer long and we are actually playing the back nine. Members (and only members) took to the 10th tee last Friday and will be able to keep playing throughout the fall on the weekends. If you have not done so, call the golf shop to set up your back nine tee time for the upcoming weekend. We have put extra guidelines in place for the back nine, and I would like to thank you all for supporting our efforts in ensuring a good experience for all members. We know we have a long way to go still, but we have already overcome the hardest part, and are so happy to be at this point in the process. For those that have already taken the opportunity to play the back nine, we are looking for testimonials and feedback. Please consider clicking here and letting us know what you think, comments and reviews are appreciated! Hope to see everyone out on the back nine in the coming weeks!

All the best,

Bob Raley

Golf Shop Updates

The back nine is open on weekends for members, what could be better than that? Well, this maybe not better, but is great nonetheless….new electric carts. We are expecting delivery of our new fleet of carts this month. While we are still in the permitting process for the cart building (don’t worry, we think that will happen soon) we have a plan to start using our electric carts right away. With our freshly paved cart paths, we are beyond excited to move on to the smooth ride of new electric carts. These new electric rides will be a huge upgrade to quality of play for all of our golfers. Cart fees will be increasing from $10.00 to $12.00 to help account for the cost of the new carts. As a courtesy to our members, we will continue to not charge cart fees Monday through Thursday for the remainder of the 2022 season. We hope to see you all riding around in our brand-new carts soon.

Maintenance Update

As we head into the middle of August, the turf care team is beginning to catch our breath.  The summer months are the most stressful in maintaining a golf course, never mind finalizing construction and growing in nine more golf holes at the same time. That is a lot of work.  Fortunately, we have a great team, including the course contractor and staff you see on the course every day.

Even as we try to catch our breath, we can’t stop improving the golf course. We have added a new tee to #2 and started working on some other improvements to the front nine. The new tee on #2 is designed to challenge the Championship tee player on the shortest Par 4 on the golf course. There were players who could drive the green from the back tee, but not anymore. In addition to improving the play of the golf hole, we love the improved sightline of #2 for everyone who drives into Thousand Acres. In our next newsletter, we will highlight the other updates coming to the front nine (#5 and #7 tees).

Events and Happenings

Unfortunately, due to lack of interest and sign-ups, the Ladies’ and Men’s Member-Guest Tournaments will not be taking place this year. We will do our best to drum up interest for these tournaments next year as we see these events being a big hit for years to come. If you have any comments or feedback regarding these events, do not hesitate to reach out. All feedback is appreciated.

Our August 19th Wine and Nine is completely sold-out, but don’t worry, there is still one more Wine and Nine that will be taking place on September 9th. This will be our last Wine and Nine event of the year and an email regarding sign-ups will be sent out soon.  Reminder, with the earlier sunset the start time will be 5:30 PM.

The Golf Shop hours have been modified along with changes in daylight. Monday through Thursday, the shop will be open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Friday to Sunday, the shop will be open from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Leave us a voice message if you call the shop outside of these hours. We will get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you.

Prior to the opening of the back nine for our members, we had a spectacular employee picnic to celebrate those who have contributed their time and effort in getting Thousand Acres to where it is today. The employees enjoyed delicious barbeque and had the opportunity to play the beautiful back nine in a very fun scramble format. Thank you again to our wonderful employees for making Thousand Acres special.
