Bob Raley - General Manager
I was born and raised in western Maryland and have lived in Garrett County since 2007. I graduated from the Turfgrass Management Program at Penn State University & received my BS from Frostburg University. My professional career began at Cumberland Country Club & several other courses in Maryland and Pennsylvania. I was the original superintendent and General Manager at Thousand Acres Golf Club. Most recently, I was a National Agronomist for a fertilizer manufacturer, supporting technology driven fertilizer. I’m married to my beautiful wife, Charity and we have 3 children, Maclain, Aubree and Jaxson. In my free time, I enjoy golfing, boating and live music.

I recently moved back to western MD after living in Frederick, MD for over 20 years. My roots are in Cumberland, MD. I received my certification in Turfgrass Management from Penn State & I have a BS from the University of Arizona. My professional career began at Cumberland Country Club, MD during high school, college, and turf school. I also worked at Four Streams Golf Club in Beallsville, MD & Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club, MD. I’m single and love to spend time outdoors golf, hiking and hunting. I have become a great home chef and love to make hot salsa and grow hot peppers in my garden.

Scott Gonder - Golf Pro
I was born and raised in Garrett County and lived in DC area and then returned back home to Garrett County. I started out working my way up from the greens crew to Assistant Pro. My professional career began as the Assistant Pro at Toftrees Resort, PA, Burning Tree Country Club, MD & Country Club of Fairfax, VA. Head Pro at Thousand Acres Golf Club, MD. I also played golf with, and gave golf lessons to, former VP, Dan Quayle. I have two special girls in my life. The first is my longtime girlfriend, Elonda and the second is our TAGC dog mascot, Cleo. We found her as a stray and now she rides shotgun seat in my golfcart and our members love her! In my free time, I enjoy golfing, golf club repair, hiking & swimming in Swallow Falls area.

Bob Holcomb - Golf Course Construction Shaper, Designer and Consultant
I live at Deep Creek Lake, in McHenry, MD. I’m a transplant from the Virginia Beach/Outer Banks area. I feel fortunate that I can enjoy the beach life and beautiful Garrett County. I have over 25 years in golf course construction experience. Career highlights are renovating the Atlanta Athletic Club and Hazeltine in preparation for the PGA championships and working on Brandon Dunes, OR. I’ve had the honor of working with many legends in the sport including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Fred Couples and Hale Irwin, just to name a few. I’m married to my beautiful wife, Betsy, and we have 4 children, Brendon, Peyton, Griffin and Jensen, are the most important things in my life. In my free time, I love surfing, wood-working, gardening and occasionally dabbling in painting.

Lakefront Enterprises is a locally owned and operated company, located in Swanton, MD. The owner is Bret WInegardener, who moved to the area and started his business over 25 years ago. A true small business success story, the company has grown from a single owner/operator to a successful excavating business providing contractor services across the Deep Creek Lake area. Lakefront Enterprises was on site for construction of the first nine holes of Thousand Acres and has taken the lead in construction of the back nine holes currently underway. In addition to the golf course, Lakefront Enterprises has also constructed some of the roads and development features within the Thousand Acres community. “Building golf courses is not something we set out to do, but thanks to Thousand Acres Golf Club, we have expanded our services. Golf course construction is as rewarding as any work we do!
